Using passive range of motion to bring awareness to an area this modality shows the various joints that a wider range of motion is possible. Sometimes the body gets stuck feeling like there is only so much motion it is capable of. KAM gently reminds the body of the full range of motion it has available. While not all joints are readily able to utilize the full range of motion, this modality can help support ROM.

Shiatsu

75 minutes: $75

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of massage therapy. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Chi (energy) throughout the body. Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Swedish Massage

75 minutes: $75

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. A Swedish massage is blended with long and short strokes, along with tapotement, Pétrissage, rocking, vibration, and compression.

Tapotement-  comes from the French word, tapoter, meaning “to tap or drum.” Therapists refer to this as the percussion stroke. Tapotement is the rapid, percussive tapping, slapping and cupping of the massaged area. It is used to more aggressively work and strengthen deep-tissue muscles.

Pétrissage-(from French pétrir, "to knead") are massage movements with applied pressure which are deep and compress the underlying muscles. Kneading, wringing, skin rolling and pick-up-and-squeeze are the petrissage movements.

Connective Tissue Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be uncomfortable at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
